ISC West Recap: Workplace Violence – Prevention, Mitigation and Response

As the premier annual event in the U.S. for the security industry, ISC West attracts manufacturers, systems integrators and end users in the physical, IT, IoT and converged security spaces. All of them are clamoring for up-to-date information and education covering trends, technology and strategy that make protecting our homes, schools, businesses and lives more efficient and comprehensive. ISC recorded highlights of several sessions at this year’s event that provide a glimpse into quality of the education available at ISC events.

Violence in the workplace is a growing threat, the consequences of which are often tragic and public. In this session, Hector Alvarez, president of workplace threat management firm Alvarez Associates, defined common sources of workplace violence for attendees and taught them warning signs to look for if employees are on “the pathway toward violence.” The presentation enabled audience members to develop specific policies and procedures to mitigate threats and institute standards for workplace violence behavior.

Together, ISC East (Nov. 20-21, 2019 in New York City) and ISC West (March 17-19, 2020) will have nearly 120 educational sessions covering topics like this and others including video surveillance, access control, biometrics, smart home, public security, drones and robotics.
